The National Consultation and Prioritization Workshop on Green Public Procurement in Morocco
The General Treasury of the Kingdom, with support from the World Bank and the French Development Agency (AFD), organized a national consultation and prioritization workshop on green public procurement in Morocco.
This workshop, held on March 7, 2024, in Rabat, aimed to promote the integration of green public procurement within the context of sustainable development and climate action in Morocco.
The workshop garnered substantial participation, drawing nearly 60 representatives from contracting authorities, the private sector, and civil society, as well as Morocco's technical and financial partners.
This gathering served a dual purpose: firstly, to facilitate discussions on the challenges, opportunities, and future prospects of green public procurement in Morocco; and secondly, to engage in a strategic discussion on prioritizing the sectors with the most significant impact in the context of sustainability.
Workshop on Green Public Procurement in Morocco: A lever for strategic transition
The Kingdom's General Treasury, in partnership with the World Bank and the French Agency of Development, organized a workshop to review the work done by the Kingdom's General Treasury as part of the "Advancing Green Public Procurement" programs in the MENA region and the Green Budget Transition support program.
This workshop, held on May 7, 2024 in Rabat, provided an opportunity to get an insight of green public procurement in Morocco and also to present the results of the sustainable public procurement market study.
Discussions helped to better target the pressing needs of stakeholders for the development of a capacity-building and sector-targeting strategy for the effective development of Green Public Procurement (GPP) in Morocco.
Therefore, several key recommendations were made for implementing the next stages of actions to support the deployment of GPP in Morocco by financial and technical partners.
Awareness-raising workshop on the new public procurement reform
As part of the action plans of the "ENNAJAA" public sector performance support program and the "Blue Economy" support program financed by the World Bank, the General Treasury of the Kingdom led an exchange and awareness-raising workshop on the new public procurement reform.
The workshop, held on July 04, 2024 on the premises of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, was attended by representatives of all Moroccan administrations involved in the implementation of these programs.
The aim of the day was to share the main thrusts of the reform and the various workstreams that will accompany its implementation.
